Why LGBH? Clarifying the Message

Why LGBH? Clarifying the Message

What does LGBH stand for, and why does it matter?

LGBH stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Heterosexual. It is a humanist movement that focuses exclusively on sexual orientation, the four ways human beings experience attraction.

Since the 1990s, the acronym LGBT has expanded to include gender identity alongside sexual orientation. While this expansion was well-intentioned, it has created confusion for many people. What does the "T" have to do with who you love? Why are orientation and identity grouped under the same banner? These are legitimate questions, and asking them does not mean rejecting anyone.

LGBH does not oppose the LGBT+ movement. It does not seek to replace it, diminish it, or compete with it. It simply offers a different lens, one that separates two distinct realities: who you love and who you are.

By adding the "H" for heterosexual, LGBH makes a deliberate choice: to include everyone. Not as an act of provocation, but as a statement of principle. If we truly believe in equality, then no orientation should be left outside the conversation. Straight people are not the "default." They are part of the spectrum, just like everyone else.

Clarity is not exclusion. Naming things precisely is a form of respect. When we say "sexual orientation," we mean attraction. When we say "gender identity," we mean something else entirely. Both deserve their own space, their own language, their own recognition.

LGBH is an invitation. An open door. A space where clarity, respect, and unity are not just words, but a way of being together.
